Starbucks Summer Sneak Preview Party - Starbucks Borders, Queensbay Mall

Summer!!! Here It Comes!!! But speaking of summer, there are few things that you shouldn't miss. Keep those sun tanning cream, bikinis and shades behind. Today we are going to talk about something that refreshes you in this crazily hot season!

This year, Starbucks brings you the coolest drinks this summer. All you need to do is to chill out with your friends with your awesomely refreshing drinks in hand. So in holiday mood right? ; )

The Starbucks Summer Sneak Preview Party was held in Starbucks Borders, Queensbay Mall Penang. I feel honoured that I was given a chance to join the event because it was by invitation. Special thanks to Emily!!

The Invitation

Woola! Surrounded by books at Borders

Invited guests were fairly distributed to several groups. Oh well, when you talk about party, sure there will be fun games that keeps you going. So Fu Kun and I were in the group called "Hojicha" and we had balloon tied on our hand so that we are definable.

Hojicha x Blue Balloon

It started off with the signature coffee tasting session. The 3-Region Blend coffee were introduced in the preview. We were told that at this magical time of the year, the world's three coffee-growing regions produce coffee at their peak of flavour. The washed arabica beans arrive bursting with flavours of three regions. The harmonious blend of crisp and floral notes of East African beans, cocoa notes of Central American and the herbal notes of Papua New Guinea.

The 3-Region Blend

Okay, lets move on to the two new tea-based beverages! Namely Hojicha+Tea Jelly Frappuccino and Red Bean+Green Tea Frappuccino.

Hojicha+Tea Jelly Frappuccino is a blended beverage combining Hojicha, a Japanese roasted tea with the Starbucks Tazo Earl Grey tea-infused jelly. The Hojicha delivers toasty aroma and the jelly feels very firm. Very refreshing I'd say, the Earl Grey jelly reminds me of leong fuun which I will usually crave for in a hot weather. The combination of the 2 items above will definitely chill you down and it is ice blended! Sounds like triple awesome eh?

 The refreshing one

Next will be the Red Bean+Green Tea Frappuccino. It is a combination of the whole kernels of Red Azuki beans and Matcha, a finely-milled green tea which is the most superior form of green tea in Japan. It is a fun combination, the chewy and juicy Red Azuki beans just make the current green tea frappuccino an upgrade!

The fun one

There were also some new cakes introduced. The Baked Matcha Cheesecake, Earl Grey Jelly Cheesecake and the Young Coconut Espresso Cake.

This is my favourite among the 3. It has a thick green tea aroma which compensate the "jelak-ness" of the cheese cake. I enjoy cheese cake but usually I cant finish it by myself. But for this piece, I finish it until the very last bite!

It is a very innovative idea to add jelly in the cheese cake! The Earl Grey jelly actually helps to bring out the cheese aroma. You will not feel bored eating this, the combination makes it feels very light and I assure you will like this is you are not a fan of green tea.

When it is summer, coconut.. pineapple will come across our mind. Guess it happened to Starbucks too! The taste and aroma is special, imagine coconut and coffee. Very daring combination!

In a nutshell, the sneak preview on the food and beverages was fun. Good food makes me happy. Oh by the way, I think the bubble tea BIG FAT Straw will be handy for sucking up those red Azuki beans and earl grey jelly! FTW :P

Have faith and fight? Or accept and move on?

I only get to live today once in a life time, same goes to you. What have you done to make today a little bit better than yesterday? People always encourage each other not to give up no matter what you do, what situation are you in and fight for what is worth fighting for. Does giving up really means stop fighting? Or just that finally we learn to accept the fact and not to be stubborn anymore.

Having faith is a good thing but sometimes you are jut lying to yourself. Have faith that things will turn better or the way you want them to be, day after day, having faith and keep fighting. Well I must congratulate you if thing goes your way. Or, if it does not, there were always something that overtook the things that you were fighting for, which leads you to a different path.

When you are comfortable with the change, you tend to adapt and accept the fact that the thing that you were fighting for is not going to change anything. But you just did not realize that you are the one who is changing and adapting. And sometimes, it just simply means accept the fact and move on if you know that the thing you are fighting for is not gonna change regardless of what you do or how much effort you put in.

Everyone has dreams, some good and some bad. But at dawn when reality intrudes, things just cannot be avoided. So are you ready to accept the fact as it is and move on? Or to take a longer time to adapt the change?

Hard Rock Sand Bar Launch - Hard Rock Hotel, Batu Ferringhi

Hard Rock was first introduced to public for it's cafe. The first Hard Rock Cafe was set up back in 1971 in London, England. I myself play music and I can assure you that Music is your so call international language. No matter where you are from, you always can find a way to interpret and feel it.

Hard Rock is an iconic trademark now for its leading collector and exhibitors of rock 'n' roll collectibles. The brand icon itself speaks! Hard Rock started of as a cafe but now we see Hard Rock Hotels and Casinos all over the world. Hard Rock Hotel Penang is one of the fifteen HR hotels across 53 countries and we Penangites really are proud of it!

So i got a chance to attend the Sand Bar Launching at Hard Rock Hotel Penang with special thanks to Emily. I feel blessed that life has brought us to know each other and for sure we were tuned into the same channel. :D

Same channel :)

The launch was indeed a Purple Beach Party. Everyone dressed in the best purple outfit because Barney's best friend will get rewarded!

Sorry we were starvingggg.. when we saw food we just can't control ourselves!

Everyone who attended enjoyed themselves with free flow booze and finger food. I missed the pizza the most. It was thin crusted and the best thing is that they came in different flavors. The hotel guest enjoyed themselves with the company of live band performance by Bongga Bongga. What more can you ask for? Booze, finger food, live band on the beach! Right???? :D

We Needed Some Fresh Air

LONG WEEKEND!!!! Yes, I wanted it so much and I believed everyone wants this too. Uhm so yeah, so happened that we got replacement holiday on Monday for Weesak Day which fell on Saturday. We started to plan our trip, the hotel, the activities............ Okay!! We are heading to Cameron Highlands!

On the day itself, we dropped by Ipoh to fill our stomach first before heading to the hilly willy winding road. Speaking of Ipoh food, my all time favorite will be the Bean Sprout Chicken Rice and my Tau Fu Fahhhhh!

Sorry!! I just can't stop myself from showing this!!

The ETA on the GPS was showing longer and longer.... we are just not familiar with the winding road. Took us about 2 hours to reach Cameron Highlands. However, we still needed another hour to get to Tanah Rata. The traffic in the evening is bad, especially during the weekends. Along the way to the hotel there were a lot of farms. Strawberry, cactus, bee, rose, night market................ Sounds like a lot of places to visit eh?

After the peanut butter jam jam jam traffic jam and we finally docked! We checked in at the Century Pines Resort. The hotel looks fine but the service is a little bad, we were disappointed. After we recharge ourselves, we hopped out and start to hunt for food again! It's dinner time!

We walked along the road to check out what we have. In the end, we decided to go for "Chinese equivalent Swiss Fondue". Okay you must be wondering what on earth is this??? Let me tell you, here, we call it STEAMBOAT.

2 eggs!!! Of course! It is the set for 2... Derh.

Not to much, not too little. :)

I'm boiling and I know it!

We wrapped up our day 1 with Starbucks. Haha seriously, this store has the best business at night. It was full house. The Baristas here were very friendly, we had our hot drink in the chilly night. He was on his work, and I was on mine(shopping list) too!!! They are available until midnight, serves them right that they have good business!

Cameron Highlands - Century Pines Resort

Everyone of us wants to be served nicely by the service line. This is because we feel that we are paying for the service, you do not serve me for free, isn't it? We want to feel like a boss, so serve me like a BOSS! And often, we get disappointed. Hahahaha hilarious right.

So yeah, this was what happened to us. Check in service was fine but we got shock of our life when we entered the room. We booked the deluxe room through Agoda and so happened that they gave us twin bed instead of the Super King Bed as shown on the website! We complained about it and they refused to change the room for us because they claimed that none of the deluxe room with super king size bed is available. Only left with the more expensive room type has the super king bed. Instead of compensating us they requested us to top-up the amount if we wish to upgrade our room so that we can have the super king bed. This was a total turn down and we ended up spending our first night in the twin bed deluxe room. However, they promised us that we can change to the super king bed deluxe room on the next day. This is very troublesome. Imagine unpack, day 1, pack, change room, unpack, day 2, pack and check out instead of unpack, day 1, day 2, pack and check out. Overall, not very satisfied with the service because of the hassle the hotel gave us.

Other than that, the building architecture is Tudor inspired that equipped with gables and sandstone design.  I do like the art piece they used to decorate the room.

In a nutshell, this is a moderate place to stay, service is not up to expectation.

check check 123

Wooookay, first time blogging. I think I'm going to hold my breathe and start counting how long will it take to draft the very very first post. :)

-start counting! tick tock tick tock!!-

I just suddenly have the urge to express my excitement and share the experience, but most importantly is that this will capture the movement of my life. Capture, record, and it will be my legend, my legacy. Next time my kids will just have to log on to this and there you go, this is how your mama/grandma used to be. Places I have been, things that happened, beautiful things that i saw, people that I have met, nice foods that I have eaten.... and so much more!

So yeah kids, stay tuned!

The sky looked fine today. Isn't it?
